I had a request recently for a quick definition of each of our galleries. Also, I've noticed lately there have been a few submissions to incorrect galleries - so as a help I thought I would re-produce my response for the benefit of everyone, hopefully it's a help.
"Featured" Gallery - is by election only (by the Founder). Pin up artwork cannot be submitted here. This gallery represents some of the best pinup artwork by our group.
"Fantasy and Sci-Fi" - Whether futuristic science fiction, or beautiful maidens of the past - this gallery represents pinup artwork that is not of our normal present time. This can include aliens from another world, or elves from another age - but the criteria is that they must be beautiful, attractive and appealing (and certainly recognizable as female I guess - lol ). Aliens or elves (even in a modern setting) will be judged as Fantasy or Sci-Fi ahead of any other criteria such as city women, or fetish.
"Fetish and Gothic" - As it's name describes, is a darker brand of pinup that includes both "shades". This usually has to do with clothing and props and/or makeup, but leather, latex, rubber, stilettos and the like are typically found here. However, that being said images which portray sadism, humiliation and sexual violence will *always* be declined as that falls outside the defining lines of our pinup group.
"Close Ups and Portraitures" - this gallery portrays attractive character portraitures that ideally convey sensuality, playfulness, expression and personality. The emphasis is on the face and the beauty, attractiveness and sex appeal that it can convey. The "close ups" part of the title can mean a slightly wider inclusion of the bust and torso. Even a fantasy or fetish figure that is a portraiture of a face goes here.
"City Women and Glamor" - Simply stated - these are pinup female models from our modern world. They can be in any setting from a penthouse bedroom, to an office boardroom; from frolicking in a bikini on a beach to pitchforking hay on a farm. Girl next door, or glamor model both are fits in this gallery. If there is no defining aspect of the model (ie. a plain backdrop that gives no indication of the character's origin, or clothing doing the same - that can go instead in the studio pin up gallery)
"Male" - As it's name implies - any male pinup artwork across all other galleries. As long as it's male and it's pinup - it can be submitted here.
"Bodyscapes" - These are pinup images that generally focus on showing only a *portion* of a pinup character's body (it could be legs, buttocks, breasts, torso etc). Posing is very important and how the body is framed by the camera. The idea of a bodyscape is the "body form" to be artistically recognizable and attractive (you know that it's a female body for example, and not the elbow of a grandfather). The character's personality *is not* the focus, instead it is an artistic expression of the pin up model's body in pose. To be effective, dramatic lighting is very important and the framing by the camera. Most usually a bodyscape does not include the character's face since facial expression is not necessary.
"Miscellaneous" - Here falls any pinup artwork not easily placed in any other single gallery. Also, pin up images that combine aspects of several galleries may be a better fit here - that will be judged on a case by case basis.
"Studio Pin Up" - Pin up models in what could be viewed as a studio shoot. No defining background, no props or simple props only like a square block, a chair, a stack of books, etc. When we start getting into more complex props like motorcycles or cars - post those images instead in "Modern Glamor".
Comicbook-Videogame SuperHeroes 'n Villains" - DC Comics/Marvel Universe certainly, but even videogame heroes like Lara Croft can go here. The criteria is that they are published and universally recognizable. If it's in name only (the title) but there is really no resemblance to the published character, it may be declined. (Self-published characters we've created can go in the Fantasy gallery instead.)
"Pinup Examples" - This gallery is not available for submission but can be used by members as a reference for what constitutes good pin up form. For those struggling with the concept of what makes a good pinup, members can use this gallery to help better define the ideal.
"Tutorials" - Helpful explanations and tips for those learning 3D CG art.
Hopefully, this brief explanation will be a help to everyone struggling with definitions of each of the galleries. So much of the submitted artwork has been excellent and it's a tribute to each of you and your vision and talent. I'm looking forward to more!

We need a new Founder
First I'd like to thank all of you for having me as your Founder for over two years. I'll be leaving dA around May 20, the day that Eclipse takes over and kicks the old format away. That means that CGPINUPS (https://www.deviantart.com/cgpinups) will need a Founder! Any volunteers? (I think you need to be an admin.)
Thanks very much again,
Tom Chronophontes (https://www.deviantart.com/chronophontes)
Problems with Eclipse
Apparently Eclipse doesn't recognize subcategories of Digital Art, including 3-Dimensional Art, under which all submissions to this group (except animations) are appropriate. I recommend that, before you submit to CGPINUPS (https://www.deviantart.com/cgpinups), you switch back to the old pre-Eclipse format. (How to do that? Click on the "Profile" icon; at the bottom it will say "Switch to Old Site.")
Hello!
This is Chronophontes (https://www.deviantart.com/chronophontes) (Thomas Ahlswede), the new Founder. The great nucks (https://www.deviantart.com/nucks) has left as Founder, and asked me to take over. I'll take this opportunity to thank him for doing an awesome job running the group.
I don't anticipate making any changes, certainly not any major ones. I've reposted the group rules, with a few clarifications but no changes.
A slight caution: I'm lazy. I'm also the Founder of two very small groups, which I have not tried to expand because it would be more work! So I'll be delegating some of my responsibilities, particularly recruiting members, and thinking up and running contests or special projects. In
This might be a dumb question
This question comes from someone who still uses Victoria 4 in Poser. :o I know crazy, huh?
What is the difference between Victoria 6 and Genesis 3 Female? If any...
Can either be used in Poser, and can all clothes, poses etc be interchangeable between them?
If I were to ask how to incorporate G3F into Poser for creation, how do I go about doing that - is there some special set up required?
All helpful comments are welcome - LOL !
:D :D
